Make Your Own Pantry for Your RV

Hi friends!   I don't know about your RV, camper, travel trailer or tent but our travel trailer did not come with a pantry or really any convenient place to store our food while traveling.

When we took our travel trailer out for the maiden voyage we packed out food in milk crates for easy transport.  While we were there I decided to stack them to make shelves in the spot where a chair was supposed to be.  It worked out so well I decided to make it a permanent fixture.  Here is what it started out as.

I am fortunate enough that my husband works somewhere where I was able to get these crates for free but you can also purchase them through Amazon by clicking this link - Crates.  Unfortunately for me, the ones I got only came in this ugly dark blue, but you can get these in several different colors to match your décor.

I used zip ties like these found also on Amazon - Zip Ties - it's best to use at least 8" long zip ties and I used several on each crate to make it as secure as I could.  Once I zip tied them all together, I cut the excess off and twisted them around so that there were no sharp edges showing where anyone could get cut or scratched on them.

Once they were all secure and safe I then used spray paint to paint it all to match my RV and make it a bit prettier.

Next I found some cute fabric bins to put in the crates like these......

These fit nearly perfect in the crates and makes it easy to store and find all the items you need while camping.  Again these come in a variety of colors to suit your decoration and color themes in your camper or home.

The plastic containers I actually got from Dollar Tree but you can find them as well on Amazon.  I will be upgrading to these containers over the off season.

I like these and think they would be more durable than the ones from the Dollar Tree, but the ones I have now will work fine for now.

I have not figured out how to secure it upright during travel days but I just lay it down with all the food we need inside it.  It is super easy to set up once we get to the campsite.  If you have any ideas on how I can secure it please leave me a comment below.

Finished Pantry...........

Let me know if this is something you might try.  Do you have issues with having a place to keep your food?  Leave me a comment below on how you store your food without an actual pantry.  I look forward to hearing from you.

See you next time or maybe even out on the road.
